I'm running because I believe Norfolk's schools can be better, and I believe educators need a stronger voice in the decision shaping them. I've experienced firsthand the incredible difference a great teacher can make in a student's life, but I've also seen how systems, policies, and lack of resources can make that work unnecessarily difficult. I want to bring an educator's perspective, an organizational development mindset, and a commitment to data-driven decision-making to the Board. I'm not interested in simply putting a new coat of paid on old problems; I want us to examine the foundation and build smarter. My goal is better support for teachers, stronger outcomes for students, and greater confidence from families and the community.
Every single child in our community deserves access to every opportunity to succeed. No matter where a child starts, they should have the tools, the support, and the open doors they need to reach their full potential. Equitable opportunities are not just a hope, they are a promise we keep to every student.
Our community's future starts in our classrooms. We must support, value, and invest in those who lead, teach, and inspire our students every day. Our educators do more than pass on knowledge; they spark curiosity and build the foundation for everything we hope to achieve. When we invest in our educators, we invest directly in our children and our shared future.
We need a school board that makes smart, data-driven decisions with students at the center of every choice. Data-driven governance means looking closely at the facts, understanding what truly works, and using real-world information to guide the path forward. Every decision must have a clear, positive impact on our kids' daily lives and education.
Our schools succeed when our community stands together. Every parent deserves confidence and transparency in their child's education, and stronger communication between schools, families, and neighbors. Education does not happen in a vacuum, and by building honest partnerships, we give our children the supportive environment they need to thrive.
